Blog Assignment Overview

Each of the four blog posting assignments are worth 50 points for a total of 200. The assignments are available on this web site, on the course blog and, by link, on Blackboard. I will not hand out the assignments in writing. Monitor the schedule - you are responsible for knowing when assignments are due. The assignments must be posted before 8am on the due date.

The first blog assignment is to establish a blog, make a posting and send me the URL.

I will evaluate your writing on the Blog Assignments according to the following criteria:

Excellent spelling, grammar and syntax. Invite someone to read your writing out loud before you consider the assignment complete. Listen to the places where your reader stumbles over the words...these are likely the passages that need clarification.

Proper citation. When you cite an author you must give them credit for their ideas and words. Citations should be brief and to the point. The relevant words you borrow from the writer should be enclosed in quotation marks and followed by a page number in parentheses (p. 123).

A clear grasp of the assignment. You must complete all parts of the assignment.

Demonstrated complex and reflective thought. The posting should demonstrate that you have thought about what you are writing before you wrote it. I want to see evidence that you accurately understand not only the assignment but also the material of concern to your response. Historic, contextual, stylistic and formal accuracy will assure your success.
